furry bums!

Did you happen to read the article in last Saturdays Good Weekend about the declining Koala population? Apparently it is very possible that they could become extinct our own lifetime, this is something I found both alarming and saddening. I simply can't image not been able to take future generations around Somers to meet some of our local Koalas, or as they are know at our place, the Furry Bums.

Imagine my delight this morning to see this young Furry Bum strolling along Wills rd. Oblivious to the passing cars he (or she) was taking a leisurely approach to the day and to my surprise stopped and drank for some time out of bowl of water left by a caring Somers local.

This Furry Bum is one of the estimated less than 100,000 that exist in Australia today, let's all please slow down and open our eyes to be sure that he (or she) lives a long healthy life and maybe even has a baby or two!

are you feeling the love?

Well it's Valentines Day....and where else on such a day would you go to feel the love but your favourite florist.

I had a quick stop to see the girls at Balflower this afternoon and the store was a sea of amazing  arrangements and colourful blooms. More staff than I have seen before were busy out the back making beautiful arrangements for both in store customers and for home delivery.

I wonder who some of these are off to, I wonder if they know that flowers are coming
and most of all I wonder if they know who they are from....

Happy Valentines Day!

memory lane...

Do you have a wall of framed images in you home? A wall that when you walk past it and take a look it provides the most delightful trip down memory lane? I do and with the start date for impending renovations creeping near it is time for me to take it down (for a few months a least).

My wall of haphazard frames and carefully selected images brings me so much joy that I think I will leave removing them until the very last minute!

This is my favorite pic from the wall - a polaroid print of my dad and I outside my grandmothers house.

It's not surprising that as a photographer some of my most treasured items are photos, I just hope that in this digital age we don't forget to print and preserve the magical moments that we capture today so that they can be enjoyed for generations to come.

all but one...

So I yesterday participated in the unofficial community recycling thing where you place your unwanted yet functional goods on the nature strip where they are free to be taken by anyone who wants them.

I awoke today to find that 5 of my recently replaced dining chairs had found a new home leaving one lonely little chair all on its lonesome.

I feel kind of sad for it now and might have to bring it back in - why leave just one?
